Your opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and forward-thinking Digital Solutions Lead to join our Digital Technologies team at Newstead. This leadership role is pivotal in ensuring DairyNZ’s digital solutions, data platforms, analytics systems, and software engineering practices are well-designed, well-governed, and delivering meaningful value across the organisation.

As a key partner to teams across DairyNZ, you will guide the development of high-quality digital products, champion best-practice engineering, and help shape how we leverage emerging technologies including AI, to enhance experiences for staff and farmers. You’ll lead a team of data, software, and data specialists to deliver robust, scalable platforms and services that support evidence-based decision-making and innovation.

Reporting to the Head of Digital Technologies, you will:

  • Guide modern engineering practices, including cloud technologies, automation, CI/CD, and adoption of AI.
  • Ensure digital projects and enhancements are delivered on time, on budget, and to high quality.

About you

You’re an experienced technical leader who thrives in collaborative, complex environments. You bring strong communication skills, a strategic mindset, and a passion for unlocking the value of data, technology, and modern engineering practices. You enjoy developing people, shaping direction, and enabling teams to deliver exceptional digital solutions.

To be successful, you’ll bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in ICT, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience leading teams and/or people.
  • 5+ years’ experience in software engineering, integration, platform development, data, or digital systems roles.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience.
  • Experience with modern engineering practices (cloud, APIs, automation, CI/CD).
  • A commitment to high-quality service delivery.

Experience with data platforms, analytics environments, or Microsoft technologies (Azure, Power Platform, SQL) would be advantageous.

We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds — even if you don’t meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
