Deliver a positive future for New Zealand dairy farming
Te whakaputa i te anamata kounga mō ngā pāmu kau o Aotearoa
We are full of people who have a passion for delivering great outcomes and creating positive change. We leverage our collective strength by bringing the dairy sector together, helping farmers build more sustainable, profitable, and resilient farm businesses; because a strong dairy sector means a strong New Zealand.
Your opportunity
Help shape how DairyNZ adopts and governs AI for the future.
We’re looking for a Governance & Platform Enablement Lead – Artificial Intelligence to play a key role in enabling safe, effective, and trusted AI use across the organisation.
This is a specialist role responsible for defining, embedding, and enabling governance frameworks and ways of working across DairyNZ’s full AI estate. This includes generative AI, machine learning models, automated decision systems, and AI capabilities embedded within enterprise platforms.
You’ll act as a bridge between strategy, governance, and delivery—establishing the guardrails and tooling needed to support innovation while managing risk, privacy, security, and compliance.
This is a hands-on role, where you’ll implement governance within platforms and support teams to design, build, and use AI solutions responsibly and effectively.
You’ll collaborate with Data, AI and Content platform leads to design and deliver innovation workshops—exploring new ways to support farmers, strengthen research, and enhance DairyNZ’s effectiveness through smarter use of technology and modern ways of working.
What You’ll Be Doing
Reporting to the Enterprise Architect, you will lead the Digital Technology team, across the following areas:
AI governance & standards
- Define and embed governance frameworks across the full AI ecosystem
- Develop standards for AI lifecycle management, risk assessment, monitoring, and oversight
- Ensure governance is integrated into AI workflows, from ideation through to deployment and retirement
Operating model & enablement
- Establish roles and responsibilities across AI governance (e.g. product owners, stewards, risk stakeholders)
- Provide onboarding, playbooks, and coaching to support safe and effective AI use
- Continuously improve governance approaches in response to evolving technology and regulatory requirements
Platform configuration & leadership
- Translate governance standards into platform configuration across AI tools and environments
- Implement controls including access, monitoring, lifecycle, and review processes
- Partner with technical teams to ensure AI solutions remain governed, secure, and fit for purpose
About you
- You’ll bring strong experience across AI, data, or technology governance, combined with the ability to work both strategically and hands-on. You’re comfortable navigating complexity and enabling others to adopt new technologies with confidence.
- We’d love to hear from you if you have:
- Experience in AI, data, or technology governance (ideally 5+ years)
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical AI concepts for different audiences
- Experience with AI platforms and tools (e.g. Microsoft AI services, Purview, Copilot or similar)
- The ability to influence and build relationships across business and technical teams
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong analytical capability
- Experience supporting organisations to adopt AI safely while maintaining governance and oversight
