We are looking for a dedicated Research Technician to join our research farm team to contribute to impactful DairyNZ research projects.
About the role:
As a Research Technician, this plays a key role in supporting research projects that drive productivity and sustainability on New Zealand dairy farms. This hands-on role involves conducting research procedures, collecting and analysing data, and assisting with animal handling and farm-related activities.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct experimental work following research protocols
- Collect, analyse, and record data accurately
- Assist with animal sampling, herd testing, and welfare management
- Provide technical support to research teams
- Help prepare reports and contribute to research publications
- Support knowledge transfer through conferences, field days, industry events, and host visitors when required
- Assist with general farm duties when required, ensuring high standards of animal care and welfare.
About you:
- A strong interest in agricultural science and dairy research
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong communications skills, both written and verbal
- Basic knowledge of farm systems and research methodologies
- Experience handling animals and operating farm equipment
- A relevant degree in agriculture or science, or equivalent practical experience
- Knowledge of the New Zealand dairy industry
