We are looking for a dedicated Research Technician to join our research farm team to contribute to impactful DairyNZ research projects. 

About the role: 

As a Research Technician, this plays a key role in supporting research projects that drive productivity and sustainability on New Zealand dairy farms. This hands-on role involves conducting research procedures, collecting and analysing data, and assisting with animal handling and farm-related activities. 

Key responsibilities: 

• Conduct experimental work following research protocols 

• Collect, analyse, and record data accurately 

• Assist with animal sampling, herd testing, and welfare management 

• Provide technical support to research teams 

• Help prepare reports and contribute to research publications 

• Support knowledge transfer through conferences, field days, industry events, and host visitors when required 

• Assist with general farm duties when required, ensuring high standards of animal care and welfare. 

About you: 

• A strong interest in agricultural science and dairy research 

• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail 

• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team 

• Strong communications skills, both written and verbal 

• Basic knowledge of farm systems and research methodologies 

• Experience handling animals and operating farm equipment  

• A relevant degree in agriculture or science, or equivalent practical experience 

• Knowledge of the New Zealand dairy industry
