Your opportunity - Based within our Solutions & Development team, this position is an essential part of our farm systems capability, reporting to the Farm Systems Team Manager. You will contribute to national and regional programmes that address key sector challenges, ensuring our solutions are grounded in evidence and tailored to farmer needs.  

As a Farm Systems Specialist, you will: 

• Translate science, policy, and insights into practical farm solutions. 

• Provide expert advice across farm systems and related disciplines. 

• Collaborate with Regional Teams to deliver integrated solutions. 

• Lead and contribute to sector-wide initiatives and debates. 

• Design and deliver tools, resources, and training for farmer adoption. 

• Build strong relationships with farmers, rural professionals, and stakeholders. 

• Mentor and support DairyNZ staff to build technical capability. 

• Represent DairyNZ at industry events and forums. 

About you - You’re passionate about driving positive change in the dairy sector and thrive on turning complex science into real-world solutions. With a strong understanding of farm systems and a collaborative mindset, you’ll bring credibility, curiosity, and courage to everything you do. 

We’d love to hear from you if you have: 

• Expert knowledge of dairy farm systems and whole farm system philosophy. 

• A relevant tertiary qualification. 

• Experience working with farmers to improve farm performance. 

• Excellent communication and presentation skills. 

• Proven ability to build effective networks and relationships. 

• Project and programme management experience. 

• Strong analytical and technical writing skills.
